Hermeisha R. Green, LCSW
FOUNDER
Here at Refuge Counseling Wellness Services, I specialize in helping women and women of color address issues related to anxiety, trauma and spiritual growth by providing EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), Psychoanalytic therapy and Biblical counseling upon request. I am trauma focused practitioner, passionate about building healthy individuals and families, which involves addressing the unconscious wounded areas in our lives, our current unhealthy thoughts and behaviors and how that significantly impacts our spiritual growth, wellness and witness.
Education & Work Experience
Bachelors in Arts (B.A) in Sociology & Education from the University of California, Riverside (UCR)
Masters in Social Work (MSW) from the University of Southern California (USC)
License Clinical Social Work (LCSW), North Carolina
License Clinical Social Work (LCSW), Hawaii
Certified EMDR therapist, EMDR International Association (EMDRIA)
My career began working in adoption settings, helping families experience the joy of providing forever homes, while helping them both process the pain that brought them there. My experience as a Psychiatric Social Worker in the schools systems in California, and as a Clinical Social Worker with the Department of Veterans Affairs, provided me with a robust clincial experience that laid the foundation for my skills today. This work and my private practice work thereafter, has caused me to see the common thread in them all: Trauma
With my skills, education and warm personality, I intentionally provide a comfortable and safe environment that connects with individuals in the most genuine and understanding way. I am passionate about the work I do with adults and families, using EMDR and in depth psychodynamic work to help individuals recover from the distressing and overwhelming emotions that are caused by the pain of trauma.
Approach
My approach is targeted, practical, interactive and results driven. I incorporate many techniques (CBT, EMDR, Psychodynamic, Solution Focused, Psycho-Education, Biblical Counseling, etc.) and reflective assignments that are geared to help you grow and achieve your goals. With grace and skill, I work alongside you as a facilitator and coach in your personal process.
Interest
My personal interests includes enjoying the joys of motherhood, homeschooling my two daughters and always finding a reason to spontaneously dance. I believe dancing and laughter is one of the best forms of therapy. You can never out dance yourself or anyone else. As a matter of fact, get up right now and just start dancing…Let them stare…Enjoy yourself…You get the picture.
On a more serious note, I am deeply invested in helping the Church expand its understanding of trauma and becoming healthier by equipping it’s members and leaders to respond mindfully to the hurting and wounded sitting in their pews.
I am currently accepting new clients and I am available for speaking engagements. Please see the “Contact” section to request me to speak at your church, women’s meeting, or organization.
